I have to go into the Intel Display software (not the Windows display settings), choose the Advanced option, set up a custom resolution of 1280x1024 at 60Hz, and then set it to that in the Intel software, reboot the computer, and then set it in the Windows display settings, and then it's fine. The monitors are all 19" non-widescreen monitors that should display 1280x1024, and every time I plug one in for the first time, it tries to set it to 1300x768 (or whatever the higher resolution is).

I've got a bunch of refurb Dells here, and every one of them has problems with the Intel graphics driver software and displaying the correct resolution. I have taken the battery settings off energy efficient settings and asked it to be dynamic (apparently some settings there can cause displyPorts to not be active). It is most definitely set to extend and not disconnect in the display settings.Īs I have tried more than one monitor I believe that I have covered the error where it may be a faulty displayPort on the monitor.

I checked that I have all available windows updates and am currently running the latest version of the Windows 10 Pro software. I also changed the cable around so the plug that was in the monitor is now in the computer and vice versa. I have even switched out the machine for an identical model just to make sure it was not a faulty displayPort on the machine! I have gone into the bios of the machine (it is an HP not a Dell) and there is nowhere specific for the displays to be activated or set to be able to have multiple displays. I disabled the display adapter driver and restarted the machine - in that scenario it did not even detect the display attached via the displayPort. I have rolled back to previous versions and tried the latest.

It is an on-board video card powered by the Intel HD 2000 device and I have added the latest drivers to the machine direct from Intel. Neither of these have caused the monitor to display. The monitor is set to be extended and it is currently set to minimum refresh and minimum resolution also. The first step is to check the interface information.OK, for those that asked me to use the DisplayPort cable only on boot up, I have and nothing at all comes to screen throughout the whole process. The iw list gives you much more information about wireless wlan0, interface modes, HT, bit rates, scanning, etc. In fact, this tool can even give you more information about different commands. You might have already used iw for several other purposes, for example, to obtain information about your Wi-Fi network. It is used for configuring Wi-Fi in particular and can be more powerful than other tools. Enable Monitor Mode Using iwįirst, we will take a look at the use of the iw Wi-Fi configuration tool. The following sections list some of the ways that you can use Monitor Mode in Kali Linux. If you have the wireless adapter that supports Monitor Mode, then you can easily set the wireless interface. Monitor Mode thus provides all the crucial information on every device, and can also be used for observing large volumes of network traffic. It is also used to check whether the network is vulnerable to any attacks. For an ethical hacker, Monitor Mode is used to capture all relevant data packets to check whether the router is vulnerable.
